「Talk past each other」です！
直訳するならお互いに過去について話す…といったところでしょうか？
実はこのフレーズには、単語「Past」から想像できないような意外な意味があるんです！
一体どんな時に使うのでしょうか？
早速、一連の会話から見ていきましょう！
IreneとTomが、Ireneの恋人について話しています。

Tom: Hi, Irene, I will have a party tonight. Will you come?
Irene: Why not!
Tom: Why don’t you come with your boyfriend?
Irene: I am not dating anyone now. I broke up with him.
Tom: Is that so? What happened?
Irene: Nothing happened. It’s just we are not meant to be together. When we talk, we always talk past each other. It’s so tiring to be with him.
Tom: I’m sorry. But then, you better come to the party! I bet it’s going to be so much fun tonight!

恋人と別れた理由を聞かれたIreneは「When we talk, we always talk past each other.」と答えます。
実は…
「Talk past each other」には「話が噛み合わない」
特に何かあったわけではないけど、話が噛み合わないことに疲れたとIreneは言っていたんですね！確かに話が噛み合わない人といるのは疲れてしまいそうですね。
このフレーズはなかなかインターネットで検索しても、正式なソースが見つかりませんが、ドラマなどでも使われているネイティブらしい表現のひとつです。
